Getting Clients, Booking Sessions, and Building Real Momentum

Getting started in photography is not for the faint of heart.

If you're a photographer reading this, I’m sure you've felt it too. THE GRIND. The quiet hustle behind the lens that few people see. You pour your heart into the work, wake up early to catch golden hour, stay up late editing, culling, retouching, and then... you post. And all you hear is silence.

It’s tough. You're creating content you’re proud of. You're studying light, watching shadows, improving your edits, building a style. You’re doing everything you think you should be doing, and still, it can feel like your work is invisible in a crowded scroll.

I have been told that’s been part of my journey too.

I’ve offered free sessions to build my portfolio and prove I can do this. I’ve put together highlight graphics, tried new shoot locations, worked with dancers, athletes, and seniors, all to grow. I’ve started Rep Teams to keep the energy flowing and to create a community around this brand that I believe in. And through it all, I’ve kept showing up.

Why? Because even on the hardest days, I love this work.

I love the way someone’s face lights up when they see their photos for the first time. I love turning real moments into lasting memories. I love watching confidence unfold in front of the camera, especially from people who didn’t think they could look that good in a photo. That’s what keeps me going.

Yes, the bookings come slow at first and they are still slow. Yes, the likes might be low. Yes, there are weekends where you're doing more planning than shooting, and days when you're wondering if anyone even sees what you’re creating. But progress happens in the persistence.

Every small win matters. Every word-of-mouth referral. Every returning client. Every person who tells someone else, “You should book with Rise Up Creations.”

To anyone else grinding in this creative space, hear me when I say—keep going. Even if it feels slow. Even if the engagement doesn’t match the effort. Even if you're still figuring things out.

Because I’m right there too. And I’m not stopping.

I’ll continue to grind because I enjoy the work. I enjoy seeing people light up. I enjoy telling stories through my lens. And I believe with everything in me that consistency, creativity, and heart will always make room for your work in the world.

So here’s to showing up. Here’s to learning. Here’s to rising, creating, and capturing something meaningful—one photo at a time.

Let’s keep going.
